HOTEL UPDATES

London’s Hotel L’Oscar, sibling hotel to La Reserve in Paris that many clients have enjoyed, is a real surprise. The hotel is situated in a former Baptist Church in Holborn, whilst previously not the top address in London it is becoming popular as other luxury hotels are developed nearby and as many corporates disembark from large offices in Canary Wharf, its central location has become popular with many law firms shifting into the area. It’s within walking distance to theatres, Oxford Street and the newly made-over Covent Garden area. L’Oscar’s 39 rooms are full of character. Named after Oscar Wilde the lobby is an eccentrically stylish library and despite all the elaborate, quirky touches throughout the hotel it is a very calm and relaxed hotel with good sized rooms for London. L’Oscar has just joined our Virtuoso programme through which we can offer you additional value.

For our Corporate Client CFO’s looking at your 2024 travel budgets we advise to plan for a 7-10% increase. Depending where your employees travel to, across the board increases are already in the pipeline in our 2024 hotel negotiations.  For provincial New Zealand bank on a 10% increase, particularly due to a lack of new build hotels or apartments, despite the increased demand.  Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch all have a number of ‘new-build’ hotels and apartments and so expect an increase a more modest 5% increase. Australia and South East Asia business centres are all under pressure and 10% increases mid-week are expected. Europe and the US all 10% increases as corporate travel returns.

Auckland’s Stamford Plaza Hotel on Albert St has re-branded to the JW Marriott Auckland. The hotel will embark on a staged renovation to bring this property up to international JW Marriott 5-star standards. One ‘mock-up’ room featuring the new design style has been completed and approved. Formerly the Regent Hotel Auckland, this 80s icon still features what must surely be the largest marble bathrooms amongst hotels in Auckland.  The entire hotel will be upgraded over the next 12 months.

Christchurch’s relatively new Mayfair Hotel has just joined our Virtuoso partner network, allowing us to deliver you even better value. Located conveniently on Victoria Street, this boutique five-star property will suit your Executive Team, Board Members or visiting international guests. The bedrooms are amongst the largest in the city, with the smallest starting at around 35sqm. The hotel features a couple of smaller meeting rooms for those planning a meeting.  By booking through your usual ATPI Travel Consultant our clients will receive:
